The Art of Dorothy Cannon

Notes to the update of 30 March 2007

The 7 temperas in this group require no introduction (although this painting definitely has unusual subject matter)...

... but some of the 12 drawings are in such poor condition that my first inclination was to pass them by.

This tree is a good example - so faded that the image is seriously compromised, and there is even a punched-out circular hole in the lower right quadrant.  But what a tree!  And Dorothy liked it; it's signed.

This is one of a series of four watercolored drawings on love. They are too wonderful and unusual to leave out, even though all four drawings are seriously marred by paper discoloration.

The bottom line: I added these beautiful and whimsical drawings to the site after all, despite their condition, because otherwise they would probably simply drop out of sight and never be seen by anybody, a fate I'm not willing to impose.
